I believe a nurse is one of the most important individuals in the hospital and is expected to take care of patients. Nurses must possess qualities such as empathy and kindness above professional requirements in order to carry out their duties professionally. Nursing is my dream career because I have the innate desire to help others regardless of their condition. I also have the ability to listen to others follow instructions and perform duties as directed. I also enjoy working with people from different cultures, regions and ethnicity. I am aware that nurses encounter patients from different cultural backgrounds and ethnicity. I also enjoy working with other and possess interpersonal skills as well as the ability to maintain open communication with colleagues. I am also aware that nurses experience numerous challenges because nursing is a demanding profession. However with good presence of mind, concentration and assistance form colleagues I believe I can adjust and learn how to work efficiently. I am also active, cheerful and approachable which helps friends around me feel relaxed and comfortable. I imagine these qualities will help me develop a good relationship between me and my patients.
The responsibilities of a nurse include treating and helping the sick and injured recover as well as offering health education. Nurses are also charged with the duty of maintaining a hygienic and safe environment which will help patients recover optimally. In some situations nurses may offer counseling especially to family members of patients who are critically Ill. In addition nurses are also responsible of ensuring that the patient is comfortable and gets adequate rest during treatment. I am still working on the paper.
