For example, Baby Boomers grew up with dial telephones, Xers grew up with cordless phones and Millennials are growing up with wireless communications. The big difference in adaptation seems to be the degree of interest and dependence for each generation. Nevertheless, technology is a blessing since it has fasted most of the things. For work/life balance, the current generation has always put in long hours because of their training and beliefs regarding paying dues and maintaining job security. This may be due to the current competition as compared to the last ten years. The current generation prefers long hours since it equates to self-worth as well as a sense of contribution. Regrettably, this dedication to the job has led into inequity between work and family.
When it comes to communication styles, younger generations are more detached in their communication styles. This big difference can be ascribed to the evolution of electronic technology. For instance, as generation X has come of age, they have found themselves within an environment that allows them to communicate in manner the older generations never had access to. For example, younger generations prefer e-mails while the older generation prefers communicating using a phone.
On education and development, matures and boomers have the same perceptions in that the training offered is supposed to contribute to the goals of the organization.
