The more willing a person is to serve and fight in the military, the more likely such a person is to support the use of force in the restoration of peace. As an original hypothesis, this theory was challenged by the data from the in class survey which revealed that it might be a different story altogether. The data  we collected from the in class survey showed that there is a slight correlation between a man’s or woman’s willingness to serve in the armed forces and their support for the use of force. However, it was not definitive enough to support the hypothesis. The in class survey data showed that about 37.8% of the class felt very strongly that they would not serve in the United States military while 33% of the class felt very strongly that they would serve and fight for the armed forces. The other 29.2% of the class did not feel very strongly about if they would or wouldn’t serve and fight if called upon by the military.

As stated prior our official hypothesis was, the more willing a man or woman is in serving and fighting in the military, the more likely they are to support the use of force. The independent variable of our hypothesis here is the willingness of a man or woman to serve and fight in the United States military and our dependent variable is the support for the use of force. The logic that connects the two variables is that the more willing a man or woman is to actually fight and serve in the military, the more knowledgeable such people are about the costs of using force against the benefits and which one outweighs the other in most cases.

The more willing a man or woman is to actually serve in the military, the more likely that person is to support the use of force both domestically and abroad because of their belief and faith in the success of the armed forces. A person’s support in the armed forces shows that particular person’s support in an international police force that protects people both domestically and internationally. The more willing a person is to serve in the forces, the more willing that person may be to support the use of force.

According to the data collected by the survey, a slight majority of men and women who wouldn’t serve and fight in the military favored the use of force in situations two and three of the survey while in situation one the majority of men and women who wouldn’t fight in the military opposed the use of force. However in all three situations the majority of men and women who would serve in the military favored the use of force. The majority of people who would serve in the military favored the use of force in situations like that of using force to restore peace during a civil war. While the majority of people who would not serve in the military did not favor the use force to restore peace during a civil war. That should flow logically from common sense since only courageous people would want to serve and fight in the military. Rarely would such people be found to fear employing the use of force in the restoration of peace. The opposite is true with those who do not look up to serving in the military.
