Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. (The New King James Version, Matt. 28.19-20).

From my personal viewpoint these verses tell us that evangelism is a commandment for all Christians. While it may sound like a great act to follow, one should understand that making disciples could go from talking to one's next-door neighbor to traveling to another country to preach the teachings of God. This is not a suggestion; this is actually a command that every Christian should follow (Bronn 209). It is important not just for evangelists or prophets, but for everyone to take part into being not just converts, but being disciples of the cross.

In the book of Acts, the disciples did great deeds to fulfill this command. In Acts in chapters 1-28 we read about God's Gospel being spread throughout Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and, finally, all over the world (Jarman 802). Yet this deed is not solely done by the disciples alone (Walton 294). For example, in chapter 8 of the book, persecution in Jerusalem broke out and that preachers scattered everywhere to preach Christ unto them (Jarman 803). We can see that these people are not just the disciples, but members of the Church acting under the Great Commission (Walton 296-7).

Everyone can have their own way in taking part in the Great Commission. The most common is probably being ready to explain the Christian faith to anyone who happens to ask. Personally speaking, I am always ready to share my own story on why I decided to put my faith in Christianity, and how it affected my life. I make it a point that the things I share are those that fall under my personal convictions, because for me, a first-hand testimony is always stronger than second-hand tales. Touching one's life, for me, is on a personal basis, since I think the most effective way for me is making others disciples, rather than mere converts.
