Eurydice and Orpheus were young and in so much love that they were inseparable. They were dependent on each other and could not be separated. Their love story can beat up the story about “Romeo and Juliet”.
Orpheus was so determined to bring Eurydice back from the world of dead after she was bitten by a serpent and passed away. He went to Hades, the king of the Underworld to get her back. It is a story of fervent affection, terrible heartache and musical overwhelm. It openly shows the true meaning of undying love, passion, power and mystery of music. Orpheus made everyone swoon with his lyre playing.
According to Shakespeare’s Two Gentlemen of Verona Proteus talks about Orpheus’ music that can soften even steel and stones. The myth persuades the reader that the true love is immortal. Orpheus with his sweet songs and strong love was able to convince the gods. Therefore, they, allowed him to take Eurydice back to the upper world.
The story of Orpheus and Eurydice shows the power of true love. One can understand that love may change a situation or save a person from danger. This is clearly portrayed in the story. The myth left me quite a disturbed. It managed to wake the memories of my past. I had almost similar event. After ending my relationship and could not stop thinking about my ex-boyfriend. I wanted to bring him back. However, I got a second chance but I blew it. In conclusion, if one looses someone and manages to bring him/her back, all the efforts must be doubled to stay together.
